ByVac is a small manufacturing company specialising in products that make designing and building projects easier. Mostly the produces have some kind of serial interface. The LCD module for example will accept a serial input rather then the more complex arrangements you get with the standard LCD controller.
Another example of this is the PIC32 which has on board a PIC32-Basic, making a MIPS microcontroller no more complex than simply programming in BASIC.
